command network

Trace the route packets take to a network host

Required Packages

sudo apt install -y traceroute

Options

Target host *

Hostname or IP address to trace

IP version

Probe method

Do not resolve hostnames (-n) Do not resolve hostnames (-n)

Show IP addresses instead of hostnames

Max hops (-m)

Maximum number of hops (default: 30)

First TTL (-f)

Start from this TTL instead of 1

Wait time (-w)

Max wait time for response in seconds (default: 5.0)

Queries per hop (-q)

Number of probe packets per hop (default: 3)

Destination port (-p)

Destination port (TCP default: 80, UDP default: 33434)

Interface (-i)

Network interface to use

Don't fragment (-F) Don't fragment (-F)

Do not fragment probe packets
